The evaluation handbook only addresses the evaluation requirements for 2017-2018 which are based on the results from 2016-2017. Under the streamlined evaluation, the teacher's previous year's rating carries over. S/he is not observed nor is s/he rated on student growth/achievement in 2017-2018. The teacher reflects on the core professionalism component but does not receive a new rating.

Jury/witness duty; military (15 days per calendar year), death or critical illness of immediate family (3-10 days), funeral (1 day), quarantine, disaster, PTA Convention for officers, in accordance with state law
An employee may be given "temporary disability/extra sick leave," however not more than 15 days of paid sick leave, including regular or extra, shall be granted. Three days are given for the death or critical illness of an immediate family member (five days if employee must go out of state). In the case of illness followed by death, employees taking one out-of-state-trip are allowed up to a maximum of 8 days. Employees taking two out-of-state trips are allowed a maximum of 5 days leave with pay for critical illness and/or 5 days with pay for death. Teachers who are either state officers or officially elected delegates of the PTA may be permitted to attend the annual PTA convention, provided that not more than one teacher per school with a total staff of 40 or less, or not more than 2 teachers from each school with a total staff of 41 or more in any one school year.
